TVD-1 Trace Virus Detector

Whilst created for the detection of inorganics explosives GreyScan has taken the Capillary Zone Electrophoresis (CZE) technology and applied it to the most pressing issue in the world at this time, the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that is causing the world-wide COVID-19 pandemic.

Studies have found that SARS-CoV-2 can survive up to up to nine days on plastic and stainless steel, and in October 2020 the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention detected living coronavirus on the outer packaging of frozen goods. The ability of viruses to live on a surface for many days after being in contact with an infectious person potentially creates a catalyst for the transmission of disease. The identification of virus on a surface is also potentially the first indicator of a super spreader event. Whereas contract tracing and testing are typically too late to contain the spread of the virus, immediate identification of super spreaders by testing surfaces can assist in mitigation of spread and early exposure detection.

The TVD-1 will provide a quick and easy testing of surfaces to confirm the presence or the absence of the virus to help contain outbreaks and provide reassurance that cleaning protocols are effective at eliminating the virus.
