Current tests based on polymerase chain reaction (PCR), mmunoassay or antibodies are unable to differentiate live virus particles from non-contagious dead particles and are prone to false positives. Additionally, the invasive nature of testing and slow results times provide barriers to people voluntarily testing.
Acting as a huge sampling surface the lungs provide the greatest method of assessment of infection. Using a similar method as an alcohol breath test the TVD-2 Breathalyser takes a single continuous breath and produces an accurate result within three minutes.
